Position: Financial Controller

Location: West London

Advocate Group are representing a leading global FMCG company in their search for a Financial Controller to join their EMEA Finance team. This is a key leadership role within the Finance function, providing oversight, reporting, and compliance for established entities across the region.

About the Role

The Financial Controller will report to the Director of Financial Accounting and be a core member of the Finance Leadership Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the finance team on a day-to-day basis.
  • Lead internal and external reporting for assigned entities, including Board Packs and audit preparations.
  • Collaborate across the business to provide financial insight and support strategic decisions.
  • Work closely with other Controllers to maintain clarity and ownership of common accounting areas.
  • Support projects impacting people, processes, stakeholders, and reporting.
  • Provide analysis and support to SLT as required.
  • Drive best-in-class financial management and compliance for the assigned entities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience at Finance Manager level or equivalent.
  • Strong technical finance and systems skills (SAP preferred).
  • Leadership experience with a proven track record of team development.
  • Excellent communicator and stakeholder manager.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook and Excel.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data-led insights, root cause analysis, and KPI tracking. Manage relationships with external suppliers, ensuring safety, quality, and performance meet contractual expectations. Lead, mentor, and grow the maintenance team through structured training, recruitment, and performance management. Work closely with internal stakeholders to support future investment planning and strategic decision-making for equipment and infrastructure. About You: A qualified engineer, ideally with an Electrical or Mechanical background. Experience gained in an automated, fast-paced manufacturing environment (food or FMCG experience highly desirable). Demonstrable success in maintenance leadership roles, including budgeting, team management, and supplier oversight. Strong technical knowledge, with a keen eye for detail, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Excellent communicator and collaborator capable of influencing cross-functional teams.
