We’re a business with offices and amazing clients based in the heart of the city. So, we know for a fact that it’s true what people say – we definitely do things differently in Manchester.

Just make sure you bring a brolly and we’re sure you’ll be sound.
6 reasons to move to Manchester for work
Here are six of the many reasons to consider Cottonopolis for your next career move, from world-leading liveability to unforgettable nights out…
1. One of the world’s best cities
We’re not the only ones that think Manchester is well good.
In fact, a prestigious report recently named Manchester one of the best cities to live in – not just in the UK, but the world!
The cities were ranked based on liveability, loveability, and prosperity, all of which the 0161 has in spades. And, as a result, Manchester managed to beat out the likes of Mexico City, New Orleans, and Valencia.
Not bad going, if you ask us.
2. Unbeatable bars and restaurants
If you, like us, are obsessed with food and drinks, then Manchester is the place to be.
It has a thriving bar and restaurant scene, both in the city centre and out into the regions of Greater Manchester.
Drop into the Northern Quarter on your lunch for an outrageously good burrito, or take your pick from several unbelievable food vendors in Mackie Mayor food market.
Then, in the evening, why not check out one of the city’s hidden bars for drinks?
With so much choice, it can be difficult to decide where to start. Thankfully, Manchester’s Finest and The Manc have you covered.
3. Great public transport
Whether you love to explore or just need to know you can get to the office, you can count on Manchester’s impressive public transport links.
Hop on a Bee Network bus to the city centre, take the tram (AKA the Metrolink) to Media City, or get a train direct from Piccadilly or Victoria train station to Liverpool, Leeds, York, Blackpool, or the beautiful Lake District.
Wherever it is you want to go, Manchester’s sure to have a way for you to get there.
4. Innovation hub
There’s no denying Manchester’s role as an innovator, throughout its history and into the current day.
Just take a look at some of the projects it currently has in the pipelines. These projects are all set to boost local businesses, investment, and the economy:
- Innovation Greater Manchester: ‘A local-national innovation partnership which could lead to £3.8 billion of economic benefit and over 100,000 jobs’.
- Innovation Ecosystem Navigation Service: ‘The service will connect businesses to commercialisation-focused resources… to take their innovations forward’.
- Innovation Cluster partnership: ‘A progressive new partnership between the innovation clusters in Manchester and Cambridge aims to boost investment in both cities’.
Clearly, it’s a great time to come and work in the north’s hub of business innovation.
5. Sustainability
Manchester is also leading the way in sustainability.
The city has a top-tier sustainability plan, and is on track to hit its carbon-zero target by 2038. That’s 12 years ahead of the government target for the UK as a whole!
This admirable commitment to the climate is something that can be seen throughout the city.
Eden, for example, is the most sustainable office building in Manchester. With a living wall, a rainwater harvesting system, recycled flooring, and many more eco-friendly features, it’s a powerful representation of how Manchester walks the walk when it comes to the environment.
6. Thriving nightlife
We couldn’t do a blog about Manchester without mentioning the legendary nightlife scene.
If you’ve been for a proper Manny night out, you’ll understand why.
There are plenty of gig venues for live music fans, including the newly-regenerated New Century Hall and the all-new Co-Op Live arena.
And then there are the countless clubs that are home to some of Madchester’s biggest and best nights. From The Warehouse Project (AKA the world’s favourite club) to the Gay Village, Satan’s Hollow to the Soup Kitchen, there really is something for everyone on the Manchester club scene.
It’s no surprise, then, that Manchester has been named the eighth best city in the world for nightlife! Listed alongside cities including Budapest, Rio de Janeiro, and Berlin, it’s the only UK city to have made it onto Time Out’s definitive list.
